Eaglet November 2009
GRANDPARENT’S DAY
Our twenty second annual Grandparent’s Day will be held on Tuesday, November 24, from 1:15 – 3:00. This afternoon is set aside for students to share their school with special people in their lives. For those students who do not have a grandparent able to attend, please consider inviting another adult who is special to the child. Guests should meet us in the gym, where classes will perform a short program. Following the program, students will take their guests on a tour of the school and then join us for refreshments. Teachers will contact parents from their classrooms once it is decided what each class will contribute to our refreshment table. More information, including invitations, will be sent home soon.
BOOK FAIR
Make your plans now to attend Ridgewood’s Fall Book Fair! You can do some early holiday shopping and support our library. Grandparents can shop during their Grandparent’s Day visit! Scholastic Book Fair hours give you many opportunities to shop and make your purchases.

FALL BACK
Don’t forget to set your clocks back 1 hour on Sunday, November 1, when Daylight Savings Time ends.
ANNUAL GIVING DRIVE
All parents and alumni will soon receive the Annual Giving Drive mailings. This year we celebrate our 62nd year of educational excellence. Your support makes possible a wide variety of projects that benefit all students in our school, and your gift is tax deductible. If you have donated in the past, thank you and we look forward to your continued support. If you have not, please consider donating for the first time this year. Our students will be the beneficiaries of your generous contributions.
FIELD TRIPS
Primary school classes have started their series of field trips. Please be reminded that chaperones are coordinated through the classroom teacher. This procedure helps to make sure that all parents who want to chaperone will have a chance to do so. PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOU ARE CHAPERONING. Some trips are allowed unlimited numbers of chaperones; however, some require reservations and/or allow limited numbers of adults.
ATTENDANCE & DISMISSAL
Please familiarize yourself with the policies and procedures in the Primary School section of the Parental Brochure. Out focus this month is on policies pertaining to attendance and dismissal.
*School begins promptly at 8:25 a.m. Please drop you child off between 8:15 and
8:25 a.m., bid him/her goodbye OUTSIDE, and allow him/her to enter the
classroom INDEPENDENTLY.
*Afternoon dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. Unless enrolled in After School Care,
dismissal is from the carpool gate.
*Students are NOT DISMISSED FROM THE CLASSROOM DOOR.
*In order to ensure success in school, regular attendance is necessary. Absence
for reasons other than illness or an emergency is unexcused. The school has the
right to refuse promotion to a student who has been absent more than 10 days in
one semester.
*Tardiness has a negative effect on a student’s academics and disrupts classes in
progress. Excessive tardiness can result in a student being placed on attendance
probation.
BRRRRR
