Congratulations to the following students for their placement in the Social Studies Fair held for fifth and sixth graders. In fifth grade: third place, Colston Chatagneir for “Remembering  9/ 11;” second place, Haitham Aldahir for “Christopher Columbus;” and first place, Elliot Barrois for “ The Civil War.”

In sixth grade: third place, a tie between Peyton Melancon for “Early African Civilization” and Mohammad Quraan for “The Golden Age of Islam;” second place, Emma Shapiro for “The Great Wall of China;” and first place, Sofia DiVincenti for “How the Industrial Revolution Shaped New Orleans.”

The Spelling Incentive Program test was administered on 20 April. In the Middle School, seventh grader, Jenna DeLatte had a perfect paper. Congratulations, Jenna!

Congratulations are also due to fifth grader, Henry Lewandowski, and seventh grader, Jenna DeLatte, for earning a perfect score on the Mathematics Incentive Program test which was administered on 30 April. Good work!

Recognition for a fine performance goes to both seventh grader, Keegan Cox, and eighth grader, Willem (Shimmy) Lang, who are both members of the varsity track and field team.  Shimmy competed in the long jump and ran the third leg of the 4 x 400 relay team. Keegan competed in several different events over the course of the season including the 800 meter run, the 1600 meter run, the 3200 meter run, and the 4 x 400 relay. Keegan qualified to compete at the regional meet after running a time of 5:15 in the 1600 meter run at the district meet. Great job!

Special thanks to the parents and faculty who helped with the Fish Fry. Well deserved thanks also go to the students in grades pre-K through twelve and the members of all school clubs who helped by assembling baskets that were raffled at the “fry.”

A closing ceremony for the eighth grade class will be held on Thursday, 17 May at 11:45 a.m. Eighth grade students have received information about this event.

Final exams for grades five through eleven will be administered from 17 May through 23 May. Exam schedules will be issued to students in grades five through eight on 11 May. Your child will be free to leave school after completing the exam. Please make transportation arrangements. Fifth and sixth graders will have until 10:30 to complete exams. Seventh and eighth graders may work until 11:40. Students are not allowed to bring any electronic games, recording devices, music-playing devices of any kind, or radios to school. If your child will be waiting for transportation, quiet games, board games, or books may be brought to school. There are no supervised activities, Lunch will be available to students on a cash-only basis. Exam notices have been distributed to students.

Report cards for the year will be mailed to each student’s home if there are no outstanding obligations such as overdue library books, and the like.

Parents –if you have not yet returned your re-registration forms, please do so now. Some classes are filled, and space is limited in others.

The Ridgewood faculty and staff have enjoyed working with your children for the 2017-2018 school session.
