Entrance exams for new students entering Ridgewood for the 2019-20 school year will be administered on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Applications can be obtained by calling the school office at 835-2545.

Pre-kindergarten enrollment is on a first come first served basis, and requires an application and a student interview.  Kindergarten entrance tests are administered individually and are scheduled at the time of application.   The entrance requirement for pre-kindergarten is that the child is 4 years old by October 15, and kindergarten students must be 5 years old by October 15.

LIBRARY NEWS

The holiday season is a wonderful time for everyone, but especially for children.  Your new toys can help ease a child’s pain and hopefully distract them from the reality of having to spend the holidays in the hospital.

Every year Ridgewood partners with a local nonprofit group that collects, wraps, and delivers toys to Children’s Hospital.  We have already collected over 40 toys!  Please continue to send in your toys until Wednesday,

Dec. 12.  For every toy collected you will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win a book, candy, or the grand prize.  Our Grand Prize is a Mayan Birthday Package ($259 value) from Adventure Quest Laser Tag.  Bring in your new, unwrapped toys to the library by Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The Giving Thanks Food Drive collected 443 items for our community.  Congratulations to first grade won a pizza party for bringing in the most items – 102!  Thank you to everyone who participated.

BAND COLORING CONTEST

Coloring sheets may be purchased from band officers starting Monday, Nov. 19, in the band room, or at Grandparent’s Day for $1 each.  Cash prizes will be awarded in 4 age categories.  Award amounts will depend upon the number of entries, with the band receiving half of the proceeds. Coloring sheets are due by Monday, Dec. 10.  Pictures will be on display, and winners will be announced at the Ione Rasmussen Memorial (Holiday) Concert on Thursday, Dec. 13, after 2:00 PM.    If you would like your sheet back, you may take it off the wall after the concert on your own; otherwise, sheets will not be returned.

GOLDEN EAGLE FUND

Thank you to parents and special friends who have already responded to our annual giving campaign. Your gift of financial support helps fund many programs that benefit your child. Ridgewood accepts donations throughout the school year, but checks must be dated December 31, 2018 for a tax deduction this year. Please contact us if you need more information about giving to Ridgewood. We hope to hear from you soon!
